2023 was a thrilling year for AI enthusiast, a nerve-wrecking one for AI skeptics. As it draws to a close, we look back at the biggest headline maker of 2023: Large Language Models.
Some see LLMs like they did smartphones in the 2000s: a tool they never knew they needed but can't imagine their lives without it. Other fear being replaced, and for good reasons.
Over a third of Polish employees (38%) who employ AI in their daily work see it as a potential threat to their livelihood. Perhaps the fear is premature since a mere 6% of organizations in Poland are fully prepared to implement artificial intelligence, according to a recent report published by Cisco.
Companies on the other hand, are exhibiting the biggest case of FOMO ever observed: 61% of global companies expect to have only one year or less to execute their AI strategy. Otherwise they will face serious negative business consequences by missing out on the AI train. No wonder then that 91% of Polish employers claim to actively train their employees in AI technologies.
Even though the first year of the LLM craze is behind us, many claim the real fight is still ahead. The year of LLMs may be over, but their impact on the business world is yet to be seen.
